Hey, winters in Wisconsin can be harsh, especially if you’re not prepared.  Here are a few ways to make the most of it and save some headaches along the way.

1.  Replace your windshield wiper blades.
There’s nothing worse than driving blind, and the ten minutes you invest here will save you big headaches.  I’m trying out these Bosch Icon blades - sure they’re $20 a piece, but I have no complaints so far: http://bit.ly/YKpo

2.  Get into tea.
There’s a million varieties of tea - start with something green.  Not only will tea keep you warm, but you’ll get an energy boost and crammed full of cancer killing antioxidants.

3.  Stay up to date on your car maintenance.
Nothing special here - I’m not sure the fancy ‘Winterizing’ package is good value for money, just be sure to get the oil changed on schedule and top of the fluids - especially coolant/antifreeze and wiper fluid.

4.  Keep a ‘winter survival kit’ in the trunk that includes:

  • Waterproof boots
  • Extra gloves
  • Warm hat
  • Windproof ski-type jacket

I even throw in some ski goggles, a scarf, and some waterproof ski pants.

5.  Get some Jojoba oil.
Hey, I’m a guy, but winter can be hard on your skin.  Jojoba oil is an amazing all-natural moisturizer that can also be used as a massage oil, lip balm, hair conditioner, even biodiesel fuel!  Pick some up at your favorite health food store.  http://bit.ly/NEDQ

6.  Learn something new - read a book.

7.  Get outside and enjoy it.
Ski, snowboard, snowshoe, sled, tube, build snowmen, shovel, who cares - snow is fun!
